Preparing a Bridal Emergency Kit
Your big day is fast approaching and no matter how prepared you might be, there is always something that is needed and often forgotten. To reduce the risk of desperately needing something as simple as a bobby pin, to something more extreme like prescription medicines, it is important to purchase or create a bridal emergency kit.
Bridal emergency kits come in all shapes and sizes. Some brides-to-be purchase bridal emergency kits from wedding shops, others simply use a duffle bag or over sized purse. You can use whatever container suits your needs.
These are a list of the essentials to include in your bridal emergency kit:
prescription medicines
extra pair of nylons or pantyhose
a pair of comfortable shoes
clear nail polish (works well for stopping runs in nylons or pantyhose)
small sewing kit with scissors (include thread colors of bride and bridesmaid gowns)
masking tape or hem tape
baby powder (absorbs sweat, also a stain remover)
tampons and feminine napkins
black socks for the ushers or groomsmen (some men are color blind)
over the counter pain reliever
antacid
toothbrush and toothpaste
deodorant
mints
shoe polish
make-up (also remember to include shades that match bridesmaids skin tones and coloring)
bobby pins, hair clips, hair ties
safety pins
extra contact lenses and cleaner
stain remover
hairspray, hair brush, and comb
mirror (in case you are getting dressed in a room that does not have a mirror)
snacks and drinks
Band-aids
Other items to include in your bridal emergency kit are important phone numbers, copies of directions to the reception, camera batteries and miscellaneous cords and adapters, an iron, and small games or activity books to keep children occupied.
Whatever you choose to add or leave out of your emergency kit is up to you. The most important thing to remember is that you pack your bridal emergency kit well in advance. What some brides do is assign the task of packing the bag to a responsible person. This person is in charge of the bag and has it with them at all times. This is a good idea for it is one less thing you need to do and it will ensure the bag is always there when needed.
